We have really enjoyed getting to know the new possibilities that can be created and captured using a drone within our videography. We are able to shoot 4K HDR video and 48MP RAW photos – as well as creating slow motion with the dramatic 1080p/120fps. The drone shoots at an impressive aperture of f/1.7, allowing more light available to process the ‘true-to-life’ imagery. We are not limited to the time of day, as it’s capable of ‘shooting with clarity and less noise as evening falls’. The D-Cinelike Colour mode provides even more visual information, offering richer colour possibilities and more flexibility when editing.
The intelligent flight mode ‘Focus Track’ uses artificial intelligence software. This essentially allows the drone to sophistically track objects and follow us whilst in a complex environment. FocusTrack has 3 different modes to choose from:
Spotlight 2.0 will focus in on the object, whilst still allowing us as the pilot to have control over the distance that the drone has. In essence we are flying the drone, but the software is keeping the subject in the centre of the screen.
Point of interest 3.0 essentially puts the drone in a circle pattern around the pilot, however this is an automatic setting and so the pilot has no control over the pattern.
Active Track 4.0 allows us to target a subject like a person or vehicle, whilst following us as the pilot it can be directly behind or parallel facing inwards at the targeted subject. Tracking the subjects like this, the software accommodates any turns around other considered obstacles in the environment.
A feature that we also enjoy being able to use is the ‘True Vertical Shooting’ – where the gimbal is able to rotate 90°, allowing detailed portrait shots which are perfect to use for social media.
