In November 2020, we teamed up with Leicester City Council and Curve Theatre to help bring a virtual Christmas light switch on to the city of Leicester. Whilst negotiating the constantly changing national restrictions, UK winter weather and an ambitious concept, we managed to settle on a music video as the concept. Directed by Curve’s artistic director, ‘They Can’t Cancel Christmas’ was written by Tasha Taylor Johnson and performed by Rob Green.

 

The production took place over one day and two nights and featured recognisable landmarks such as Leicester Train Station, Green Dragon Square, Leicester Market, Leicester Cathedral and the clocktower. In the longer version of the video which was broadcast in lieu of a physical light switch-on event, various celebrities and Leicester-people wished every in Leicester a Merry Christmas.
