July has been another busy but month of diverse projects – from theatrical performance production trailers to talking heads and music videos. Here’s a glimpse into this past month and some of the great clients that we have worked with!
‘A Chorus Line is a musical masterpiece that revolutionised Broadway, with creator Michael Bennett using real-life testimonies from late-night recording sessions with dancers. Directed by Nikolai Foster, with a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban, A Chorus Line features iconic songs including One, I Hope I Get It, Nothing and the hit ballad What I Did For Love.’
With social media being such a vital marketing tool in this culture, it’s essential for online video content to be tailored to your audience. A great way for theatre productions to market upcoming shows is by creating music videos (for shows with musical numbers ofcourse!) Working with Nikolai is always great fun, and creating a music video for ‘A Chorus Line’ was another example of the artistic collaboration of all of the team. For the shoot we had Dan Flanders operating the steadicam, Dan Hunt operating the pole cam and Georgina Cadney operating the C200 on sticks. Duncan MacLeod brought the magic together in post production working on the blend of the various shots.
We also worked with Curve theatre to create the production trailer for the touring show! It’s important for Fran to first establish a storyboard for the production trailer, to highlight key moments of the show and so she is best able to direct the rest of the team during the recording of the live performance. For this shoot, our crew were positioned on stage with the cast members, to ensure there was a level of intimacy and as a viewer you felt as though you were a part of the audience in the theatre!
We travelled to Warrington to work with Spaciotempo to produce video content showcasing their customer relationships, capturing a mixture of b roll, talking heads and external aerial drone shots of the site and structures. This kind of shoot is a great way of pushing creative ideas, working with the client to think outside of the box to create visually engaging shots to support the interview.
