Look online and you’ll find an abundance of websites offering incredible, fully customisable animation created in your browser at the click of a button for very small monthly fees. For some businesses and organisations, that is completely fine, especially for quick and easy internal communications. The issue starts when you’re using these templates as a sales tool, because the likelihood is, someone else is using the same template and it’s only a matter of time before people start recognising the template being used by multiple businesses. Not only does this look unprofessional, it also reduces the impact of the video. A great example is a particular animation tool that many places started using where you could get a hand to draw or write on a whiteboard. This was extremely popular and soon began popping up all over the place.
There are some production companies out there who offer animation but essentially just buy templates to edit on your behalf. So when commissioning an animation project, always check that it is bespoke. The last thing you want to do is invest in an animation, only to find your competitors are running a nearly identical video.
