Why thumbnails are so important

Where possible, we’ll always recommend working out exactly where your video content is going to be used before production starts. But what if you already have some content that has done really well and you’d like to use it in a different context? Although you can sometimes be limited with options, there are usually ways to repurpose your content for a different platform – here are some examples.

  • Reframing for the likes of TikTok. If you have content that has been shot and delivered as a normal widescreen video – it is sometimes possible to reframe it in a way to be viewed in portrait. It very much depends on what’s going on on screen, and ideally we’d require the original footage as opposed to a finished video, but it’s certainly a possibility!
  • Video refresh. If you would like a new video, sometimes it’s not always necessary to shoot new footage. If the quality is there but it seems a bit tired, adding new music and refreshing the edit is often a very cost effective way to squeeze more out of some existing content.
  • Using existing content to create ads. We often shoot videos which are designed for longer-form uses but later down the line need to be cut down for online adverts. It is entirely possible to take a longer video and re-edit it to retain the narrative but be suitable for the likes of Youtube pre-roll adverts.

Repurposing video content won’t always work, but we like to see what’s possible before telling you to do a whole reshoot. After all, the more money we can save you, the more likely you are to come back! Do you have a video project you’d like to discuss? Get in touch today to find out more.
